WIND TURBINE BLADE DIY how to video Part 1 HAWT Windmill Wind Power

This is the actual DVD I have. Please watch all 10 videos before trying this yourself and BE CAREFUL. TOOLS ARE DANGEROUS. WARNING WARNING DO AT YOUR OWN RISK:-) We use pine for our blades but there are better woods available. If you use Pine, seal with a water sealer then apply a clear gloss enamel spray. This basically waterproofs the blade.

HI Dan !!!! , great vid !!!! , heres a tip for wooden props , when they are stopped try and get them to sit close to horizontal , this way WHEN they take on water it will effect the balance less , maybe a small extra wheight on the hub would do , anyway great vid again Dan !!!!

great video, think i might have a crack at that design…i bought one of them energy for earth packages online…….biggest waste of money ever…….i learned more from 1 min of your utube video than 50€ worth of that crap

I’m pretty sure that this works like an airplane wing in which case you will get the best drag to lift ratio at a 16 degree angle. Hope this helps, either way I’ve watched a lot of your videos and am quite impressed. I’ve been wanting to build a wind turbine for sometime now and I’m thinking about trying out the dual squirrel cage idea but how can I connect the copper coils to a spinning fan?and I’m very curious to see if any gains could come from a rare earth magnet motor using a Halbach Array.

    Dan!!!
How’s it going? Bill Zimmermann here in San Diego. Love the new video’s! Really enjoyed the video of the plug-in inverter. Also building the turbine blades are great.

    Keep it up!

BTW Earth4Energy popped up as an ad on your video’s. We discussed how much of a scam they are. Why do they pop up in your videos?

  9. StartEarningToday says:

Zimmermania, Hi Google groups the same type videos together and also now has adveriseing on the bottom of popular video’s

Great video, it would be nice in future videos if you were to tell us upfront what materials and hardware we will need without having to watch the whole set of videos. Other then that keep making these gems!

  15. thehomeconnect says:

Hey boss, have u tried to hook this up with an alternator and produce voltage?

  16. GREENPOWERSCIENCE says:

Yes, it produces about 100 watts in stronger wind. I had to go to the beach to get 10MPH. We have wind breaks at our house from trees.

  17. mweymiller142 says:

what is the striped thing in the back going up and down??

  18. GREENPOWERSCIENCE says:

Canvas top from a vintage carnival game:-)

    cool video

  20. wenloh says:

PVC piping looks easier to make blades with. what are your views?

  21. GREENPOWERSCIENCE says:

Yes that is a good choice too. Not Easier, but a equal or better choice. Look at this channel:

    /user/doug2877

  22. kja5 says:

I would reinforce the PVC piping with 2x2s. I heard that they can snap in half in higher velocity wind.

  23. johnwelsh696969 says:

@GREENPOWERSCIENCE also what ive seen that works really well is a polyurathane 55 gallon drum cut in half and offset around a vertical axis on bearings attached to an alternator..

  24. Esaw100 says:

Once again, thanks for the great videos. May God Bless in Jesus’ Name.

Who am I ?

Erik

Hi, I’m Erik Astrand and the man behind this site.

My story?
I am about to be 50 and all my life I have been interested in technical things. Not sure if the special interest for the wind, and how to use the wind, started when I as a 5 year old boy and got my first sail dinghy.

Anyway, wind power and to build my own wind generator was a dream for several years. I studied many websites and also bought many courses before I finally built my own windmill. This site is about that journey and you will also find some more general articles about wind power.

Enjoy! and check out the about me page to read more.
