    that looks dangerous, how safe are the blades if one comes off. for liability reasons

  4. kanadol88 says:

    Jeff, why do you use multiblade instead of 3 blades?

  5. instinct09 says:

    Hi Jeff,
    its hard to tell what kind of sound these turbines make with the wind blowing in the microphone so badly. is it quiet enough to be installed in the suburbs?
    and what about the impact on bird life?

    I love your work

    Hey Jeff looks great, Still trying to scrape together a G so I can get one with an inverter.

    @kanadol88
    3 blades require high wind speed to start spinng.like the air x usually won’t start up on less then 15 mph wind.the more blades the lower the startup.the eleven blade is on a very hard starting pma that requires 9 to 11 to start.

    jeff you should show the power output smetimes

  10. kanadol88 says:

    @jeffmolly1 I think you’re right, but doesn’t more blades mean more noise?

  11. jeffmolly1 says:

    @venom0005
    never had a blade come off or break

  12. jeffmolly1 says:

    @kanadol88
    no,less blades are noisey,the more blades the less turbulance you have between blades and the quieter they become.

    I recently purchased six blades and hub from Jeff for an alternator I got off of ebay from a conartist named angry archer. That piece of junk couldn’t light a tail light in 20 mph winds. But after I purchased a 48 volt coil and slant magnet core I rebuilt the pma and now in 10 mph winds on a 12 volt battery bank it puts out 5 amps easily, @ 15 to 18 mph I get 10 to 20 amps. Thanks Jeff, good man, great product.

  15. venom0005 says:

    are there inverters with the output for 220V instead of 110V

  16. batteryphil says:

    @instinct09 I have a 9 blade 1000 watt, it is very quiet. Jeff,s an honest guy. I know him personally.

  17. STARFIRESOLAR says:

    Have you ever gotten RPM readings on these props at various windspeeds?

Who am I ?

Erik

Hi, I’m Erik Astrand and the man behind this site.

My story?
I am about to be 50 and all my life I have been interested in technical things. Not sure if the special interest for the wind, and how to use the wind, started when I as a 5 year old boy and got my first sail dinghy.

Anyway, wind power and to build my own wind generator was a dream for several years. I studied many websites and also bought many courses before I finally built my own windmill. This site is about that journey and you will also find some more general articles about wind power.

Enjoy! and check out the about me page to read more.
