We all understand that something must be done to increase the use of renewable energy solutions.

What is it like today in the United States? What are the main sources for power?

Unfortunately, coal burning is by far still number one with almost half of the total production (49,8 %). From natural gas and nuclear power we get almost 20 % each.

Then we have hydroelectric and burning petroleum producing a bit less than 10%.

Doing the math shows that the percentage for renewable energy is really small, 2,3%. That includes solar power, biomass, bio fuels, geothermal energy, hydrogen and wind power.

So, what can we do about it?

Well, it seems a bit difficult to make any impact on the whole picture. My solution is to make as much electricity as I can on my own. To use wind power when it is possible and also help others to do so.
