Clean, renewable energy is becoming a core part of Puget Sound Energy’s power supply. PSE’s goal is to meet up to 10 percent of its customers’ total electricity need with cost-effective renewable resources by 2013. A major step in that direction is PSE’s ownership and operation of two large wind farms in Washington state. More info located at: www.pse.com
Puget Sound Energy’s Wind Power
New Underwater Transmission Lines Proposed
The last overhead high voltage line to cross state lines took 18 years to complete. That’s 2 years to build, 16 for the various permits and lawsuits. But with a need for more high voltage lines to keep up with demand, could the answer lie at the bottom of lakes and rivers? Clean Skies Lee Patrick Sullivan explains.
New Wind Power – The Wind Belt Invention
Shawn Frayne invented an inexpensive non turbine wind generator called the wind belt. I have no specs other than what you see on the video. I imagine it’s use on the roof of an electric car but obviously it can be used anywhere there is wind. The benefit is that it is very inexpensive to build as opposed to a standard turbine wind generator. The fan simulates the wind which moves the belt which moves the magnets through the coils to make electricity to power the clock and LEDs. I don’t know how much the output voltage is. Family Wind Turbines Gain Momentum
Part of a growing trend, a Danish family of seven has installed its own wind turbine to produce all the electricity the family needs while reducing its carbon footprint.
Where can you buy insurance for connecting to the power grid with a wind generator in Texas?
I have a friend who would like to install a wind generator for electricity, but the local power company will not let him connect to the power grid unless he can show that he has a million dollars insurance. Well, he cannot find any company that offers that type of insurance for any price. He has written to everyone he can think of but still no source of insurance. The reason he wants to connect to the power grid is to use it as his storage system so that he doesn’t have to maintain a whole bank of storage batterys. Does anyone know where he can get this type of insurance for a system that will be in the state of Texas?
How many houses can one normal wind turbine power?
How many houses can they generate power for in AVERAGE? 1 HOUSE, 2 HOUSE 3, 10, 50????? And please don’t say it depends on how much electricity a person uses, I want the average….

Physics question on hydro vs wind power?
I have to do a science fair on the efficiency on water vs wind. I’m using a simple electric generator to test it and i have a voltage tester to test how much electricity i can get out of each. What do i do next? Is there even a way to see which is more efficient. I’m lost!

What determines the power of a wind turbine?
Wind turbines generate electricity through magnetic induction. The blades turn a rotor lined with magnets through copper coils, thus generating voltage. The question is WHAT determines the power output. If the wind is constant, is it the strength of the magnets? Or the length of the copper wire in the coils? Any way a lay-person can figure this out and come up with reasonable voltages expected?

If United States is the Saudi Arabia of wind power, than why not use the Pickens Plan?
Says we could cut foreign oil imports by 20% in ten years.
Produce 20% clean electricity by windpower and use natural gas for fuel for cars that is 98% produced in North America and currently cost 1 dollar a gallon.
Plus unlike any other plan proposed so far it is possible with current technology and cost structures.
