They are not economical, therefore you are paying for them thru your tax dollars. CEO’s need your money now. If not they would have to learn to drive a car.

  2. Kwanzaa Baby says:

I think they are burning bailout cash to generate power.

  3. xcxhxex says:

because the oil lobbyists and companies wont allow it.
we have been to the moon and back, do ppl honestly believe that fuel cell cars and windpower are something new??
in the 70s they invented a car that could run on water, but there is soooo much money in oil that they buy off anyone with any of these ideas. and washington is obviously owned by the large companies, they’re slowly coming around but by taking this long, we’re going further and further back into the stone age.
-the rest of the industrialized world is leaving us in the dust. even arab countries with all the oil have half a brain and they are looking at ways to creat energy without oil.

  4. professor_lumpy says:

Yeah whats up with that i wonder . . ….

  5. Stephen says:

Because Bush needed the white house to be protected after he knocked the twin towers down for oil.

  6. Studbolt X says:

You do know Reagan removed the Carter-installed solar cells from the White House, right?

  7. comrade otto says:

jimmy carter actually had the whitehouse roof full of solar panels. reagan promptly removed them when he moved in

  8. bob_frangione2000 says:

The White House did have solar panels installed when Carter was president. there is no way to determine if any money would have been saved because Reagan had them removed.

  9. Beloved Immortal says:

Easy money and greed, oil makes more money.

  10. honestamerican says:

you’d have to ask the last administration.I don’t think Obama has had enough time to order and have one set up yet.

ROFL…it’s a lot like Gore and his crusade: Do as I say, not as I do. All the left’s policies can be summed up in one word:

    HYPOCRITE…

It’s important that we, the ignorant peasants, comply, but since THEY (the self anointed) are the enlightened ones, they get a pass.

A lot like the movie stars of Hollywood telling Arnold (Gov.) that taxes must be raised to pay for the illegal immigrants schooling & medical care, and then a month later these same stars petitioned Arnold that they should be TAX EXEMPT since they’re "Entertainers, and bring joy to the people."

LOL, typical lefties…HYPOCRITES, the lot of’em.

do as i say not as i do

  13. Don't Trickle on Me says:

No, you’ve asked the wrong question. Anything that is done at the White House is paid for with taxpayer dollars.
The right question to ask is, if people really believe in these technologies, why don’t they have them at their personal residence? Does Obama have solar panels at his private residence? What about the dems in congress? I would be willing to bet money that there are maybe only a handful that do.

  14. buffytou says:

I believe that retrofitting government buildings in order to stimulate the economy and reduce government expenses was one of the "pork" issues that the Republicans have been complaining about.

  15. Ida Slapter says:

Because they’re not. And the ruling elite just want the rest of us to live like third world peasants.

  16. Bob says:

The white house had solar panels but Reagan felt the need to rip them off.
    Typical behavior.
Why the thumbs down for actual events? WTF?

  17. Brian says:

Because they are only good ideas for the little people. Is Obama’s estate in Illinois run on solar or wind?..

  18. wendy c says:

I’ll cut you some slack on the obvious refusal to do research before inserting foot in mouth.. maybe you were not around when Reagan took them off the White house.
I think I’ll just sit back and laugh my butt off that now EVIL COAL GENERATED ELECTRICITY has become something else to blame the Democrats for.
Oh, and to help your understanding.. many persons would be putting them up, but are prohibited from doing so.. by things like HOAs, or zoning restrictions.
I would LOVE to live somewhere other than an apt, and I would have a windmill and solar panels. I lived in the country at one time, where many persons DID have such things, and were very proud to be more self reliant.

Hot air goes up, it doesn’t move sideways. WA, D.C. is full of hot air.

  20. roderick_young says:

The issue is not so simple as your question. We need coal now, and will for some time. That does not mean that solar will not continue to be more viable as time goes on. Today, it makes financial sense for a small fraction of the population. In the past year, panel prices have fallen some 20-25%. So the fraction for whom it makes sense is growing.

And there isn’t a point that I can forsee when solar (or any source) will be the 100% solution, either. If you look at our power today, it’s a mix of all kinds of things.

Who am I ?

Erik

Hi, I’m Erik Astrand and the man behind this site.

My story?
I am about to be 50 and all my life I have been interested in technical things. Not sure if the special interest for the wind, and how to use the wind, started when I as a 5 year old boy and got my first sail dinghy.

Anyway, wind power and to build my own wind generator was a dream for several years. I studied many websites and also bought many courses before I finally built my own windmill. This site is about that journey and you will also find some more general articles about wind power.

Enjoy! and check out the about me page to read more.
